DBHDD's Division of Addictive Diseases will be featured on Peachtree TV's Public Affairs on Peach, Sunday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. The show, hosted by Brandon Rudat, will discuss resources and programs AD provides for people with substance abuse challenges.The show will also highlight the women's HIV/AIDS awareness event, hosted by DBHDD, HIV Early Intervention Services Program, Imagine Hope, Inc., and the Clayton Center Community Service Board, on Wednesday, March 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Paula Crane Life Enrichment Center, 1792 Mount Zion Road, Morrow, GA 30260.
Suicide Prevention Day at the Capitol was held on Thursday, February 21. More than 1 million adults nationally reported attempting suicide in the past year; rates of attempted suicide were highest in Georgia at 1.5 percent. Here are stories of lives lost to suicide. [More info]

According to CDC data, the number of suicides in Georgia rose more than 15 percent between 2008 and 2010. In 2010, approximately 1,133 Georgians died by suicide and unconfirmed data shows that number is on the rise. [More info]
